Eastern Long Island
The top right photo was taken with a 35mm Rebel G last year. I always wanted to post it. It's from the same general area. We go out east every year. First one for Sophie.
friday october 12
Sophie was 8 weeks old yesterday. Time really does fly. Trying to capture moments as they pass us. We went downtown last weekend for the first time since Sophie was born. It's not quite normal, but people are out and about. Shopping, eating, and smiling.

Street Fight
While driving last weekend on our first trip to Manhattan since 911, we came across this scene: 1 tractor trailer, 1 gray haired trucker guy and his buddy, 1 econo-car, 1 big big guy, and a lot of anger. Add in 8th Ave traffic, a couple of other guys ready to jump in the middle, and no cops in sight.
We were stopped at a light. 8th and 27th. Along side us is an 18 wheeler. Suddenly we notice that the car in front of us is stopped and the guy inside is now talking to two guys in green shirts standing next to his window. It didn't appear to be a warm and friendly conversation.
So as I start to pull around him I see the gray-haired trucker guy pushing the big guy's car door closed, struggling to keep him from getting out. But the big guy in the car wasn't having any part of that and pushes the door right open. Now these two are in each other's faces, yelling, pointing and pushing. Meanwhile, Eleni is shouting drive drive! Get away from this! We were "right there" in the middle of it all.
So I start driving away from this great opportunity for action shots. I look for a place about 40 yards away so I can stick my camera out the window and take the photos backwards. These 2 are what I got. Apparently, as Eleni tells me the big guy smashed the gray-haired guy in the face after a little more push and shove. I wasn't close enough but I gather there was foul language as well.
I guess you're seeing a before and after here. We didn't stick around to see what developed as the gray-haired trucker guy jumped in his 18 wheeler and tried to ram into the big guy's car. :) ahhh new york.

monday october 08
My kid just puked in my face. Right in my face from about 6 inches away. This definitely counts for the "kid throws up in your face" experience.
Looking at my little girl gives me hope and makes me feel better. She is growing so fast. I noticed that I was sitting with her sleeping in my arms while I watch war coverage.
